Third Aussie charged with sex slavery<\/p>\n
AUSTRALIA: An unemployed man on Thursday became the third person
\ncharged under Australian laws prohibiting sexual slavery for
\nallegedly luring three Indonesian women to Sydney and forcing
\nthem into prostitution, police said.<\/p>\n
Australian Federal Police said they believe the women were
\nbrought to Sydney with the promise of jobs in public relations
\nand hospitality but once they arrived were forced to work as
\nprostitutes.<\/p>\n
The 36-year-old man, from the inner-Sydney suburb of Ultimo,
\nwas charged with three counts of deceiving a person into sexual
\nservitude and one count of possessing a prohibited drug.<\/p>\n
Two of his alleged accomplices were charged on Wednesday over
\nthe scheme. They were the first persons charged under 1999
\nfederal legislation relating to sexual servitude, authorities

UNITED STATES: An interceptor missile fired from a U.S. Navy
\ncruiser on Wednesday missed its target, a mock warhead, over the
\nPacific Ocean, the military said.<\/p>\n
The failed test, the first miss in four attempts to shoot down
\nan incoming short-range missile using the sea-based Aegis weapons
\nsystem, was a setback for the Pentagon's largest weapons
\ndevelopment program.<\/p>\n
Five out of eight tests of a companion ground-based missile
\ninterceptor have successfully hit their targets in what critics
\nhave called unrealistically controlled conditions.<\/p>\n
In December, President Bush ordered activation by Sept. 30,
\n2004, of anti-missile capabilities that could guard against a
\nstrike from North Korea, which the CIA says probably already has

CANADA: Canada banned three Sikh militant groups as \"terrorist\"
\norganizations on Wednesday, including one allegedly linked to the
\n1985 bombing of Air India Flight 182.<\/p>\n
Federal Solicitor General Wayne Easter said Ottawa had
\ndetermined that Babbar Khalsa, Babbar Khalsa International and
\nthe International Sikh Youth Federation \"knowingly engaged in
\nterrorist activity.\"<\/p>\n
It also banned two Pakistan-based Sunni militant groups,
\nLashkar-e-Tayyiba and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, bringing the number of
\ngroups on Canada's prohibited list to 31.<\/p>\n
The three Sikh groups support the creation of an independent
