Thief escapes police custody<\/p>\n
KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: The province's military police have
\nbeen investigating the alleged role of four policemen in the
\nescape of a detainee suspected of stealing motorcycles.<\/p>\n
East Nusa Tenggara deputy police chief Sr. Comr. Arthur
\nDamanik said on Thursday that the four policemen were accused of
\nnegligence in guarding the detainee, identified only by his
\ninitials, H.M., and of other disciplinary offenses.<\/p>\n
\"If proved to be involved in his escape, they would face
\nsevere action from their superiors,\" Damanik said.<\/p>\n
The suspect thief escaped late last December while under
\nescort by the four policemen, who were taking him to meet his
\naccomplice.<\/p>\n
H.M. had been caught red-handed while operating on the border
\narea of Kefamenanu, between East Nusa Tenggara and East Timor.
