The abolishment of the academic system that obliges university
\nstudents to write theses is a pragmatic solution which may have a
\nserious impact in the future. It is pragmatic because there are
\nassumptions that thesis writing is an obstacle for a student to
\nfinish his or her studies. Many are apparently not fully aware of
\nthe danger of having low-quality graduates which will in turn
\nbecome a threat to our business sector. Why?<\/p>\n
The global economy will inevitably be based on knowledge or
\nknowledge-based economies. In this economic setting the
\ncompetence of a nation depends largely on the quality of its
\nhuman resources. We should realize that writing a thesis is a
\ncrucial exercise in enhancing intellectual capacity and
\ncreativity. Quality human resources are an invaluable asset which
\ncan ascertain the existence of a nation in its struggle to be
\never competitive.<\/p>\n
Thus, abolishment of the thesis constitutes a barrier to the
\neffort of producing quality human resources. Low-quality manpower
\nwill be suitable for only repetitive and routine work, whereas
\nthe people's intellectual capacity will remain idle. People of
\nthis type will find it difficult to comprehend the swiftness of
\nelectronic marvels such as the Internet information system and
\nWorld Wide Web through Hypertext Mark-Up Language if they have
\nonly a mediocre intellectual background.<\/p>\n
