        "content": "<p>The New Order legacy<\/p>\n<p>From Kompas<\/p>\n<p>I feel deeply concerned to observe the recent surge in public<br>\noutcry, particularly street rallies in Jakarta and other major<br>\ncities. I bitterly regret that the protesters have become brutal<br>\nand anarchic.<\/p>\n<p>I have lived long enough to have experienced life under the<br>\nleadership of the five presidents of Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>Experience has taught us that protesters have certain goals to<br>\nachieve. Some want to have a new government; such people do not<br>\nwant to understand others and do not want to learn about their<br>\nown weaknesses and tend to act rashly.<\/p>\n<p>But it is lamentable, after a brief period of relative peace,<br>\nthat we were again shocked by news of protesters burning the<br>\neffigies of our leaders.
