        "content": "<p>Police from the Yogyakarta City Police raided a childcare foundation\nor daycare named Little Aresha on Friday (24\/4\/2026). The raid was a\nfollow-up to a report from a former employee of the institution who\ndirectly witnessed inhumane childcare practices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInitially, the employee saw that the treatment of babies or\nentrusted children was inhumane. She felt it went against her conscience\nbecause she saw abuse and neglect, so she chose to resign and report\nit,\u201d said Yogyakarta City Police Chief Kombes Pol Eva Guna Pandia on\nSaturday (25\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>The Yogyakarta City Police recorded a total of 103 children who had\nbeen entrusted at the childcare facility, with 53 of them verified to\nhave experienced physical and verbal violence. Yogyakarta City Police\nCriminal Investigation Unit Head Kompol Rizky Adrian said the victims\u2019\nage range was very vulnerable, from babies aged zero to three months up\nto toddlers under two years old.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, based on the caregivers\u2019 work period of more than\none year, this violent behaviour is suspected to have been ongoing for a\nlong time. The police are now conducting marathon examinations of the\nsuspects.<\/p>\n<p>The Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY) Regional Government emphasised\nthat it will not tolerate perpetrators of child violence at the Little\nAresha daycare. \u201cEvery form of violence against children is a serious\nviolation of human rights that cannot be tolerated,\u201d said Head of the\nDIY Women\u2019s Empowerment, Child Protection, and Population Control Agency\n(DP3AP2) Erlina Hidayati Sumardi in a statement in Yogyakarta on\nSaturday.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, the DIY Regional Government urges that all parties\ninvolved in the alleged child violence violations be processed in\naccordance with legal regulations in a transparent, professional, and\njust manner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe convey our sincere sympathy and empathy to the children who\nbecame victims and to the affected families. Children are a trust that\nmust be protected together,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>As part of protection efforts, the DIY DP3AP2 together with the\nYogyakarta City DP3AP2KB, Yogyakarta City Child Protection Agency, and\nthe DIY Victim Violence Protection Forum have been and will continue to\nprovide psychosocial support for the child victims and assistance to\nfamilies through integrated services.
