But the initial enthusiasm seems to have waned,<br>\nparticularly after relations between China and Japan deteriorated<br>\nfurther this year over the Yasukuni Shrine issue.<\/p>\n<p>Washington also put a damper on the plans when it expressed<br>\napprehensions of forming an Asian community without its<br>\ninvolvement.<\/p>\n<p>To proceed with the East Asia Community concept, ASEAN members<br>\nmust work hard as the core group, but cooperation between China<br>\nand Japan is also indispensable.
