TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two years into his tenure as Vice President,\nGibran Rakabuming Raka has come under fire twice. In May 2025, several\nretired Indonesian Military (TNI) officers floated the idea of\nimpeaching Joko Widodo\u2019s eldest son. Now Denny Indrayana, a former\nDeputy Justice and Human Rights Minister, has filed a petition with the\nConstitutional Court challenging Gibran\u2019s educational background.<\/p>\n
Denny, who heads the Integrity Law Firm, is challenging the\neducational documents Gibran used to meet the requirements for\nregistering as a vice-presidential candidate in the 2024 General\nElection. He filed the petition with the Constitutional Court on\nThursday, September 10, 2026. \u201cI am asking the Constitutional Court to\ndisqualify or remove Gibran as vice president,\u201d he said in Menteng,\nCentral Jakarta, on Tuesday, September 15.<\/p>\n
Denny\u2019s idea to challenge Gibran\u2019s educational background before the\nConstitutional Court grew out of a discussion with former Constitutional\nCourt Justice Harjono about two months ago. In phone calls and WhatsApp\nmessages with Harjono, Denny said he had found irregularities in\nGibran\u2019s candidacy beyond the change to the age requirement for\ncandidates brought about by Constitutional Court Decision No.\u00a090.<\/p>\n
The General Elections Commission (KPU), issued Regulation No.\u00a019\/2023\non the Nomination of Participants in the Election of the President and\nVice President.
