Brawls have become common among students, particularly those
\nin high school. And if they have an audience for their fights the
\nstudents really go wild, seemingly trying to show their strength.<\/p>\n
Despite the deaths of their schoolmates, they are not at all
\ndeterred. An eye for an eye is virtually their law.<\/p>\n
In their bags, these students carry weapons right along with
\ntheir books, as if they were some kind of mandatory school
\nsupply. Therefore, I support the police raids on schools to seize
\nstudents' weapons. In this way, the brutality of the students
\nwill likely be reduced.<\/p>\n
Students become bolder when they gather in groups, which is
\nrather different from their demeanor when by themselves. Security
\nforces should therefore anticipate all contingencies when
\nstudents appear in groups.<\/p>\n
This is necessary because students now commit crimes like
\nrobberies on buses. The media also reports these student crimes,
\nso it is clear that such acts, which sometimes result in the
\ndeaths of others, are serious offenses rather than just acts of
\ndelinquency.<\/p>\n
As parents of three small children, we wonder whether schools
\nin Jakarta are in such critical condition that we should be
\nfearful of having our children educated in the capital. So we
\nappeal to the authorities to take stern measures against violent
\nstudents.<\/p>\n
