Thais Muslims refuse to go home<\/p>\n
MALAYSIA: None of the 131 Thai Muslims who fled to Malaysia
\ntwo months ago have decided to return home to Thailand's
\ninsurgency-wracked south, despite their government's insistence
\nthat their safety is assured, Malaysian officials said on Monday.<\/p>\n
Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak said authorities
\nwould determine how to proceed with the issue -- which has
\nstrained relations with neighboring Thailand -- after the Idul
\nFitri holiday later this week, the national news agency Bernama
\nreported.<\/p>\n
\"So far, none of them has indicated\" that they plan to return
\nto Thailand soon, Najib said. \"We have a few options, but we will
\ndecide when the time comes.\"<\/p>\n
Najib declined to elaborate on the possible measures, but
\nadded that Thai authorities would continue to meet with the
\nMuslims to persuade them to return home.<\/p>\n
Thai Deputy Prime Minister Chitchai Wannasathit pledged to
\nensure their safety during talks with Najib last week. Both sides
\nagreed not to let the issue further jeopardize bilateral ties.<\/p>\n
Relations have been strained since the Thais entered Malaysia,
\na predominantly Muslim nation, on Aug. 30, claiming they feared
\nfor their lives because of a crackdown on Islamic insurgents in
\nsouthern Thailand. Malaysia said it would not return them until
