        "content": "<p>Thailand, Canada sign probe accord<\/p>\n<p>BANGKOK (AFP): Thailand and Canada have signed an agreement to<br>\nshare evidence in international criminal investigations, a<br>\nCanadian Embassy official said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty, concluded in Ottawa on<br>\nSunday, lays down basic guidelines for passing evidence and<br>\nassisting investigations in cases which affect both countries, he<br>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>The pact, the result of a year of negotiations which ended in<br>\nAugust, follows a legal agreement in which Canada and Thailand<br>\nexchange prisoners from one another&apos;s countries after they have<br>\nserved a portion of their jail sentences.<\/p>\n<p>The official said Canada had been making an effort to sign<br>\nsimilar agreements with other countries in Southeast Asia.<\/p>",
