Thailand admits Hambali entered kingdom<\/p>\n
THAILAND: Thailand's foreign ministry admitted on Thursday that
\nal-Qaeda's top Southeast Asian operative, Riduan Isamuddin,
\nentered the kingdom briefly but said he had not established cells
\nhere.<\/p>\n
"He had transit passage through Thailand some time back and
\nexited soon after. We don't know the exact duration of his
\npassage," said the ministry's deputy permanent secretary Krit
\nGarnjana-Goonchorn.<\/p>\n
"He's not here, he has no local cells here, he hasn't been
\noperating in Thailand," he told a press conference. "There is no
\nlink between the Bali bombing and alleged terrorist activities in
\nThailand."<\/p>\n
Media reports citing an FBI investigation have said that
\nIsamuddin, an Indonesian militant better known as Hambali, held a
\nmeeting of Arab and Southeast Asian militants in southern
\nThailand in January.<\/p>\n
At the meeting, which preceded Bali's October bombing, Hambali
\nurged the militants to attack "soft targets" in the region like
\nnightclubs and restaurants, the reports said. -- AFP<\/p>",
