        "content": "<p>Thai privatization plans<\/p>\n<p>BANGKOK (AFP): Thailand&apos;s communications ministry will submit<br>\nyesterday plans for the privatization of the state Telephone<br>\nOrganization of Thailand (TOT) to the council of economic<br>\nministers, local dailies reported.<\/p>\n<p>Under the plan, a new entity will first be incorporated as a<br>\nlimited company with TOT as a major shareholder, then a 25<br>\npercent stake will be offered to an international strategic<br>\npartner, the reports said.<\/p>\n<p>The next 22 percent of the equity will be offered in private<br>\nplacements before 23 percent is sold to the public and the entity<br>\nis listed as a public company limited.<\/p>\n<p>The government will hold a 26 percent stake, while 4 percent<br>\nof shares will be reserved for TOT employees.<\/p>\n<p>Alternatives will be considered for the restructuring of the<br>\ncompany around customer bases, service zones or existing<br>\noperators, the reports said.<\/p>",
