        "content": "<p>Thai PM to visit Brunei<\/p>\n<p>BANGKOK (DPA): Thai Prime Minister Chavalit Yongchaiyudh will<br>\ntravel to Brunei and Singapore this week to discuss trade and<br>\ninvestment and address problems faced by Thai laborers in both<br>\ncountries, government sources said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Chavalit will depart today for a one day visit to Brunei<br>\nbefore travelling on to Singapore March 20-21.<\/p>\n<p>He is scheduled to meet Brunei&apos;s Sultan and Prime Minister<br>\nBolkiah to discuss boosting trade and investment between the two<br>\ncountries, both of which are the ASEAN members.<\/p>\n<p>Bilateral Thai-Brunei trade last year amounted to about 7<br>\nbillion baht ($280 million). Bilaterial investment remains<br>\nminiscule, Thai foreign ministry sources said.<\/p>\n<p>Chavalit, who became prime minister in November, 1996, will<br>\nalso have meeting with representatives of Thai laborers in both<br>\ncountries. Currently there are about 32,400 Thais working in<br>\nBrunei and 50,000 in Singapore.<\/p>",
