President Prabowo Subianto has been awarded a military honour by the\nRoyal Thai Armed Forces. Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul\ndescribed Prabowo as an iconic figure within Thai military circles. The\nhonour was conferred during PM Charnvirakul\u2019s state visit to the\nPresidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday (3\/8\/2026). The award consisted\nof a beret and an armed forces pin.<\/p>\n
PM Charnvirakul revealed that before departing for Indonesia, he\nfirst sought a briefing from senior Royal Thai Army officials. From that\nbriefing, he observed the high regard the Thai military holds for\nPrabowo. \u2018Before making this trip, I asked senior Army officials to give\nme a briefing. They told me that you are truly an iconic military\nfigure,\u2019 PM Charnvirakul said before Prabowo.<\/p>\n
PM Charnvirakul added that many young Thai generals greatly admire\nPrabowo. He even recounted that these generals wanted to join his\ndelegation on the visit to meet Prabowo. As a token of respect from the\nRoyal Thai Armed Forces, PM Charnvirakul then stated he had brought a\nmedal of honour to present to Prabowo. \u2018I have brought a number of\nmedals that our Army wholeheartedly wishes to present to you, because\nyou are a military figure they deeply respect,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, PM Charnvirakul stressed that the close bilateral\nrelationship in the defence sector would continue to be strengthened\nthrough joint military exercises, information exchange, and maritime\nsecurity cooperation. PM Charnvirakul also noted he was aware that\nPrabowo had once undergone training with the Royal Thai Special Forces\nwhile serving in the Indonesian Special Forces. \u2018I am also very pleased\nto learn that His Excellency the President once trained with the Royal\nThai Special Forces when serving in the Indonesian Special Forces,\u2019 he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
On the same occasion, Prabowo expressed his highest appreciation to\nthe Thai government for the honour. \u2018I also wish to express my highest\nappreciation to His Excellency and the Government of the Kingdom of\nThailand for the honour from the Royal Thai Armed Forces to be bestowed\nupon me.
