        "content": "<p>Thai govt stands firm<\/p>\n<p>BANGKOK (Reuters): Thai Prime Minister Chuan Leekpai said he<br>\nhad no intention of reshuffling his Cabinet or dissolving<br>\nparliament after easily surviving a no-confidence vote on Monday,<br>\nbut admitted a five-day censure debate exposed some weak points.<\/p>\n<p>Chuan's six-party coalition defeated an opposition motion<br>\naccusing it of economic mismanagement, condoning corruption and<br>\nconflicts of interest over a scandal at state-run Krung Thai Bank<br>\nby 229 votes to 125.<\/p>\n<p>But key ministers, including finance minister Tarrin<br>\nNimmanahaeminda and interior minister Sanan Kachornprasart took a<br>\nmauling during the debate.<\/p>\n<p>The opposition itself had conceded it had no chance of winning<br>\nthe debate, nor even of forcing early elections -- which must be<br>\nheld by November 2000.
