        "content": "<p>Thai govt says no bird flu mutation<\/p>\n<p>THAILAND: Thai public health authorities rejected suggestions<br>\non Sunday there was uncertainty about the latest bird flu<br>\nfatality or that the virus had mutated into an easily<br>\ntransmissible form.<\/p>\n<p>Thai-language newspapers quoted an agricultural official on<br>\nSunday as saying he was \"worried\" about how a five-year-old boy<br>\nwho died on Dec. 7 contracted bird flu, as the H5N1 virus was not<br>\nfound in chickens near the boy's house.<\/p>\n<p>All 14 people who have died of bird flu in Thailand contracted<br>\nthe disease after coming into contact with sick chickens, the<br>\npublic health ministry said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Each person was \"infected with the virus after touching<br>\nchickens or chicken dung inside or outside their houses,\" Kumnuan<br>\nUnguchusak, the Department of Disease Control's director of<br>\nepidemiology, said in the statement<\/p>\n<p>\"The Department of Medical Sciences has confirmed that there<br>\nhas been no mutation found\" in Thailand.<\/p>\n<p>Health authorities fear that the virus could eventually mutate<br>\ninto a form that passes easily between humans. -- AFP<\/p>",
