        "content": "<p>Thai govt polls popularity rating<\/p>\n<p>BANGKOK (AFP): The new administration of Thai Premier Chuan<br>\nLeekpai has polled a 74 percent popularity rating despite the<br>\nplunging currency and the economic crisis, the Nation daily<br>\nreported yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>In a poll conducted by Bangkok's Assumption University across<br>\n15 provinces, 74 percent of the 10,900 respondents said they<br>\ntrusted the government, while 70 percent had confidence in its<br>\neconomic ministers.<\/p>\n<p>The survey was undertaken last week when the baht sank to all-<br>\ntime lows and the bearish stock market slipped to its lowest<br>\npoint in nearly nine years.<\/p>\n<p>The Chuan administration was appointed three weeks ago, after<br>\nthe government of Chavalit Yongchaiyudh gave way amid massive<br>\npublic pressure as it struggled to contain Thailand's worst<br>\neconomic crisis in decades.<\/p>",
