        "content": "<p>Thai Airways to add Indonesian flights<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Thai Airways International will start a new<br>\nservice route this year linking Bangkok, Jakarta, and Sydney, the<br>\ncompany announced yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The airline&apos;s general manager for Indonesia, Sarieng<br>\nManeelert, said the new route would start Oct. 26 and would be<br>\nserved by two Airbus A300-600s.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Each of the flights, TG985 and TG986, will fly the route four<br>\ntimes a week,&quot; Maneelert said.<\/p>\n<p>TG985 will fly Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, and<br>\nTG986 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.<\/p>\n<p>Both planes had 247 seats, 201 of which would be economy<br>\nclass, he said.<\/p>\n<p>The new routes are in addition to the airlines 12 weekly<br>\nflights linking Jakarta and Bangkok, Thailand and three flights<br>\nlinking Surabaya, East Java and Bangkok via Denpasar, Bali.<\/p>\n<p>Maneelert said he was optimistic Thai airlines&apos; prospects in<br>\nIndonesia this year were good, especially with Southeast Asian<br>\nGames in Jakarta in October.<\/p>\n<p>He said the airline expected its load factor on the Indonesia<br>\nroute to rise to 75 percent this year from 70 percent last year.<\/p>\n<p>Three carriers, Garuda Indonesia, Qantas, and Ansett<br>\nInternational, currently link Jakarta and Sydney, Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Thai Airways joined the Star Alliance last May along with<br>\nLufthansa, United Airlines, Air Canada, Scandinavian Airlines<br>\nSystems, and Brazil&apos;s Varig Airlines.<\/p>\n<p>The alliance works on common brand marketing and advertising<br>\nand to intensify the coordination of routes and shared-code<br>\nflights in which passengers can be passed on from one airline to<br>\nthe other.<\/p>\n<p>Maneelert said the five airlines in the alliance were working<br>\nto create unified standards.<\/p>\n<p>He said three other airlines from Japan, South America, and<br>\nAfrica might join the alliance.
