        "content": "<p>Textile expos expected to bring in $5m<\/p>\n<p>Eighty-three companies from 17 countries are participating in two<br>\nmajor textile machinery exhibitions at the Jakarta International<br>\nExpo Center in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>Organizers of the four-day Seventh International Textile and<br>\nGarment Machinery and Accessories Exhibition and Indo Textile<br>\n2005 show expected on-site deals to reach between $4 and $5<br>\nmillion.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibitions -- which were opened on Tuesday by Ministry of<br>\nIndustry official Agus Tjahajana -- featured machinery for<br>\nspinning, cutting, knitting, dyeing, sewing, pressing and<br>\nembroidering (photo above) textiles and garments.<\/p>\n<p>\"This is a place to make contacts, more deals should happen<br>\nover the next six months,\" organizer Purwono said. The machines<br>\non show cost between US$20,000 and $250,000 each, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Dorhailay, the export manager at Surakarta-based garment<br>\nmanufacturer Sari Warna Asli Group, was optimistic the textile<br>\nbusiness had more potential for growth.<\/p>\n<p>\"All this talk about it being a sunset industry is nonsense,\"<br>\nDorhailay said.<\/p>\n<p>\"They've been saying this for 30 years, since when I first got<br>\ninto the business.\"<\/p>\n<p>\"And I am still here.\"<\/p>\n<p>Textile exports reached $7.75 billion last year, making it the<br>\ncountry's largest non-oil and gas export. -- JP\/002<\/p>",
