        "content": "<p>'Terrorist suspects need protection'<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: Religious leaders said here on Monday that the anti-<br>\nterrorism bill currently being deliberated upon by the House of<br>\nRepresentatives (DPR) did not provide adequate protection for<br>\nsuspected terrorists.<\/p>\n<p>They said the bill gives society a measure of protection from<br>\npossible terrorist attacks but provides insufficient protection<br>\nfor the suspects.<\/p>\n<p>\"The bill threatens human rights, so there must be some<br>\nrevisions,\" said Rev. Notoseputro of the Indonesian Bishops'<br>\nCouncil (KWI) during a hearing with a House committee<br>\ndeliberating the government-sponsored bill.<\/p>\n<p>The bill would allow investigators to freeze bank accounts of<br>\nsuspected terrorists.<\/p>\n<p>\"This will cause financial hardship for the terror suspect and<br>\nhis family,\" Notoseputro added.<\/p>\n<p>Also present at the hearing were Chalid of the Indonesian<br>\nCouncil of Ulemas (MUI) and Nathan Setiabudi of the Indonesian<br>\nCommunion of Churches (PGI).<\/p>\n<p>The committee also invited political analysts and intelligence<br>\nofficials to hear their input. -- JP<\/p>",
