Terror group may be linked to JI<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: National Police chief Gen. Da'i Bachtiar said on
\nMonday that a local terror group believed to have been involved
\nin a bomb blast on Jan. 8 in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, was
\nlinked to regional terror group Jamaah Islamiyah (JI).<\/p>\n
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a hearing with the
\nHouse of Representatives' human rights and security commission,
\nDa'i said that the police had found documents linking the group
\nto JI,<\/p>\n
"The explosion took place in the house where the suspects
\nlived ... and we've found several documents linking them to JI,"
\nDa'i said.<\/p>\n
Da'i explained that the documents also contained details of
\ntheir activities, information on how to make bombs and the
\ngroup's rules.<\/p>\n
However, Da'i refused to confirm whether Suyono alias
\nSugiyono, who was captured at the scene of the blast, had close
\nties with alleged top international terrorists Noordin Mohd. Top
\nand Azahari.<\/p>\n
The police detained two men in connection with the blast,
\nwhile other suspects are still at large. -- JP<\/p>",
