Ransiki (ANTARA) - The Patriot Expedition Team (TEP) from the Sepuluh\nNopember Institute of Technology (ITS) is developing digital\nregistration forms for the Affirmative Higher Education (ADiK)\nscholarship to assist students in the South Manokwari Regency, West\nPapua, in pursuing higher education.<\/p>\n
Speaking in Ransiki on Tuesday, the Chairman of TEP ITS, Yogantara\nSetylar Dharmawan, stated that the digital forms were designed based on\nfield findings showing high student interest in higher education, which\nis currently hindered by costs, lack of information, and limited access\nto services.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom the survey results, there is significant interest among\nstudents to pursue higher education, but various factors act as\nobstacles that need to be addressed through a service-oriented\napproach,\u201d said Yogantara.<\/p>\n
He explained that 168 out of 200 surveyed students, or 84 per cent,\nexpressed interest in continuing to university. Furthermore, 122\nstudents, or 61 per cent, identified tuition fees as the primary\nobstacle.<\/p>\n
The survey also found that 70 students, or 35 per cent, were\nconcerned about living costs during their studies. Regarding awareness,\napproximately 36.5 per cent of students were unaware of the ADiK\nscholarship, 24 per cent were aware, and 36.5 per cent had heard of\nit.<\/p>\n
He explained that these findings were obtained through surveys and\nfocus group discussions conducted by TEP ITS alongside local schools and\nthe South Manokwari Education and Culture Office on 18-19 August\n2024.<\/p>\n
The survey aimed to identify student needs while providing\ninformation regarding higher education opportunities through the ADiK\nscholarship, which subsequently served as the basis for formulating a\ndigital-based initial registration mechanism.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe initial registration mechanism will be conducted through\nschools, so students do not have to visit the government office in\nperson. Teachers will be directed to act as mentors during the data\nentry process,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
