        "content": "<p>Tenaga to cut power reserves<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR (AP): National power utility Tenaga Nasional Bhd.<br>\nis considering halving Malaysia&apos;s electricity supply reserves,<br>\nsenior officials were reported Tuesday as saying.<\/p>\n<p>Tenaga currently keeps reserves at 30 percent of its total<br>\ncapacity of 13,000 megawatts.<\/p>\n<p>Tenaga Chairman Jamaluddin Jarjis was cited in the New Straits<br>\nTimes newspaper as saying that the reduction could be done in the<br>\nmedium to long term through grid connections with other countries<br>\nin the region so reserves could be shared.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We are talking to Thailand and Singapore on the prospects of<br>\ngetting us connected stronger,&quot; Jamaluddin was quoted as saying.<\/p>\n<p>Countries in the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian<br>\nNations, including Malaysia and its northern and southern<br>\nneighbors Thailand and Singapore, are in discussions about a<br>\nregion-wide electricity grid.<\/p>",
