        "content": "<p>Tenaga to build turbines<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Malaysia's national power firm Tenaga<br>\nNasional Bhd will invest 1.77 billion ringgit (US$708 million) to<br>\nbuild two 500 megawatt steam turbines, a report said<br>\nyesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Tenaga executive chairman Ahmad Tajuddin Ali said the turbines<br>\nwill be built at the Kapar power station in Klang, in central<br>\nSelangor state, to meet the country's energy's needs presently<br>\ngrowing at 13 percent annually.<\/p>\n<p>The turbines will be built by a consortium of six contractors<br>\nand are designed to have minimal environmental impact, Tajuddin<br>\nsaid. He did not identify the six contractors.<\/p>\n<p>The first turbine would be completed by October next year<br>\nwhile the second would be operational by April 1999, he added.<br>\nThe Kapar power station presently operates four 300 megawatt<br>\nsteam turbines and eight gas turbines.<\/p>",
