        "content": "<p>The boundary wall of SDN Minomartani 2 in Ngaglik, Sleman, collapsed\nsuddenly while residents were resting nearby after taking part in a\ncommunity walk and exercise session on Sunday (9\/8\/2026). Ten residents\nwere injured in the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Sleman Police Public Relations Head Inspector Argo Anggoro said the\nincident occurred at around 7.50 a.m. Western Indonesia Time in the\nMinomartani housing complex, RT 06\/RW 02, Mlandangan, Minomartani. At\nthe time, a number of residents had just finished a community walk and\nexercise session held to commemorate the 81st anniversary of Indonesian\nindependence and were sitting near the school fence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe wall then collapsed and fell on residents who were in the\nvicinity. The incident resulted in ten residents suffering injuries,\u201d\nArgo said when contacted on Monday (10\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>The ten injured victims consisted of seven women, identified as AS, S\n(64), KM (70), ADS (34), SL (40), FN (30), and BR (28). The other three\nwere men, namely AN (31), L (SL\u2019s child), and LSAF (34).<\/p>\n<p>They were immediately evacuated to receive medical treatment. Argo\nsaid six victims were initially treated at Condongcatur Hospital, two\nwere referred to Hermina Hospital, and two others received treatment at\nUAD Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA number of victims were subsequently referred for further\ntreatment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Sleman Regency Government has also stated that it will cover the\nmedical costs of the victims, while the Sleman Regency Education Office\nwill rebuild the barrier with stronger and safer construction,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the results of the crime scene investigation, the collapsed\nwall was approximately 1.5 metres high and about 20 metres long. The\nsection of fence that collapsed was around 12 metres long. The wall was\nmade of cement breeze blocks and is estimated to have stood since around\n1980.<\/p>\n<p>Officers at the scene also found that the wall\u2019s construction lacked\nadequate foundations and steel reinforcement. At the time of the\nincident, no one was carrying out any activity or in contact with the\nwall.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, police are still investigating the exact cause of the\nwall\u2019s sudden collapse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the time of the incident, no one was found to be carrying out any\nactivity or in contact with the wall. To date, the exact cause of the\nwall\u2019s collapse is still under investigation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The public has also been urged to exercise greater caution when\ncarrying out activities or gathering near buildings, walls, fences, or\nfacilities that are old, especially those showing signs of damage.<\/p>",
