        "content": "<p>Templeton's buying SE Asia<\/p>\n<p>LONDON (Reuters): Influential international investor Mark<br>\nMobius said yesterday he was buying into Southeast Asia with<br>\nThailand the current top buy.<\/p>\n<p>The president of Templeton's Emerging Market Funds said in a<br>\nstatement he also favored Malaysia, Indonesia and the<br>\nPhilippines.<\/p>\n<p>Mobius said he was following the investment group's core maxim<br>\nof buying when others were despondently selling and selling when<br>\nothers were buying.<\/p>\n<p>\"Never has this been so appropriate,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>Although the macro-economic picture for Southeast Asia<br>\nremained \"pretty dark\", Mobius said stock markets should<br>\nstabilize in the first part of 1998 before strengthening towards<br>\nthe end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Disappointing 1997 earnings reports to be posted next year<br>\nwould simply confirm the bad news already in the market, he<br>\nadded.<\/p>\n<p>\"Most people will write off these markets while they are<br>\nrecovering -- but Templeton will be buying,\" Mobius said.<\/p>",
