        "content": "<p>Telkomsel-Motorola deal<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): PT Telkomsel has signed a contract worth US$27<br>\nmillion with the American giant Motorola to expand the<br>\nnationwide cellular operator&apos;s mobile telephone network.<\/p>\n<p>The project is aimed at increasing the Global System for<br>\nMobile (GSM) network capacity in Jakarta, Kalimantan and Bandung<br>\nof West Java.<\/p>\n<p>Telkomsel&apos;s director Garuda Sugardo said that the contract for<br>\nthe Jakarta project was worth $24.7 million while the Kalimantan<br>\nand Bandung projects $3.3 million each.<\/p>\n<p>He said Telkomsel and Motorola had previously signed contracts<br>\nfor radio networks in the greater Jakarta, West Java, Kalimantan<br>\nand North Sulawesi.<\/p>\n<p>He said that Motorola was one of Telkomsel&apos;s major vendors in<br>\naddition to Ericsson, Nokia and Siemens.<\/p>\n<p>Telkomsel, which competes with PT Satelindo and PT<br>\nExcelcomindo in GSM service in Indonesia, has 265,000 users<br>\nincluding some 100,000 in the greater Jakarta area.
