Telkomsel launches office solution<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Mobile telecommunications operator PT Telkomsel,
\ntogether with mobile phone producer Motorola and software company
\nMicrosoft, launched on Wednesday an integrated mobile office
\nsolution for its corporate customers.<\/p>\n
Called \"Windows on Telkomsel\", the mobile office solution will
\nenable customers to access their companies' intranets for data
\nsynchronization and email and internet services through their
\nmobile phones, just like they would through their office desktop
\ncomputers.<\/p>\n
\"We plan to virtually move the desktop to the road and create
\na convenient mobile office environment for our customers,\" said
\nTelkomsel's vice president of sales, Yuen Kuan Moon.<\/p>\n
The solution uses Motorola's latest MPx200 mobile phone, which
\nruns on Microsoft's Mobile Windows, a streamlined version of
\nMicrosoft's popular Windows operating system especially built for
\nembedded devices, including mobile phones.<\/p>\n
Data communication for the solution itself will use
\nTelkomsel's General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) technology, which
\nis already implemented in 80 percent of the company's Global
\nSystem for Mobile (GSM) communications network, and which is
\ncurrently rated at Rp 25 (0.3 US cents) per kilobyte. -- JP<\/p>",
