PT Telkom Satelit Indonesia (Telkomsat) is optimising the provision\nof satellite-based connectivity at 17 locations affected by the\nearthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The locations include Maumere,\nRuteng, and Larantuka.<\/p>\n
EVP Telkom Regional III Rachmad Dwi Hartanto said the move represents\nan expansion of emergency response measures as part of efforts to handle\nand restore digital telecommunications services.<\/p>\n
\u201cInfrastructure recovery at several points still requires time and is\nbeing carried out in stages. We need to ensure that all TelkomGroup\nresources and capabilities can be deployed effectively to support the\nprocess, including through the use of Telkomsat satellite services,\u201d\nRachmad said in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday, 18 August 2026.<\/p>\n
In line with these efforts, Telkomsat is optimising its satellite\ncapabilities to provide reliable communication access in locations still\nundergoing recovery, particularly where terrestrial network\ninfrastructure is experiencing disruption and limitations.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are targeting satellite connectivity support to be available at\n17 points in the Maumere, Ruteng, and Larantuka areas,\u201d said VP\nCorporate Secretary Telkomsat Fino Arfiantono.<\/p>\n
Fino added that the measure is part of Telkomsat\u2019s commitment to\ndelivering tangible benefits to the public, especially when\ncommunication access is needed in emergency conditions.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn situations like this, what matters most is how the technology and\ncapabilities we have can provide real benefits to the community,\u201d Fino\nsaid.<\/p>\n
\u201cTelkomsat will continue to work in synergy with TelkomGroup and all\nstakeholders to support the recovery process, so that communication\naccess in affected areas can be restored and support various needs on\nthe ground,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The satellite connectivity support complements the ongoing network\nrecovery process. To date, several segments of fibre optic networks, BTS\nsites, and other infrastructure have been restored and are back in\noperation.<\/p>\n
On the services side, free internet posts at several locations as\nwell as Emergency Packages for Telkomsel customers remain available and\ncan be activated via 888<\/em>20#.<\/p>\n TelkomGroup continues to deploy technical teams to accelerate\nconnectivity recovery in affected areas, while maintaining work safety\nas a priority.<\/p>",
