Telkom University has imposed sanctions on four students in\nconnection with a bullying case in a men\u2019s student dormitory. One of the\nstudents has received the most severe penalty: permanent dismissal\n(expulsion) from the university.<\/p>\n
In an official statement posted on its Instagram account, the\nuniversity said the sanctions followed an investigation and an\nassessment of each student\u2019s responsibility. The decision was based on\nMinistry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Regulation\nNo.\u00a055 of 2024 on the Prevention and Handling of Violence in Higher\nEducation (PPKTP), Telkom University Regulation No.\u00a0PU.009\/KMH-BKM\/2026\non Student Codes of Conduct, and the university\u2019s internal PPKPT\nRegulation No.\u00a0KWR3.004\/KMH01\/KKA\/2026.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe sanctions imposed on the four students were determined according\nto each person\u2019s role, level of involvement and the nature of the\nviolation. One student has received the severe sanction of permanent\ndismissal (expulsion) from Telkom University, based on findings of\nrepeated bullying and conduct that could endanger the victim\u2019s physical\nand psychological safety, as well as that of people nearby,\u201d Telkom\nUniversity Rector Prof.\u00a0Dr Suyanto said in a statement quoted on Tuesday\n(13 October 2026).<\/p>\n
One student received a medium-level sanction of suspension for two\nsemesters, along with character development measures. The university\ncited the student\u2019s involvement in recording the bullying, failure to\ntry to stop it and uploading the video to social media.<\/p>\n
Two other students were given ethics-related sanctions, including\ncharacter development activities and community service for one semester,\nas well as additional student activity requirements. The penalties\nfollowed findings of ethical violations.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll the students involved in this incident are members of the 2026\nintake. Telkom University does not tolerate bullying in any form. We\nhave sanctioned those responsible in accordance with their respective\nlevels of involvement. This decision reflects our responsibility to keep\nworking to make the campus a safe home for our academic community,\u201d the\nrector said.<\/p>\n
