PT Telkom Indonesia and PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to integrate digital infrastructure with low-carbon energy supplies, focusing on biomethane from palm oil waste to power sustainable green data centres. This collaboration aims to enhance synergies between state-owned enterprises, supporting Indonesia's digital transformation and energy transition while positioning the country as a regional digital hub. Key strategic locations like Cikarang, Batam, Serpong, Sentul, and Surabaya will benefit from PGN's existing gas networks, complemented by Telkom's global partnerships for comprehensive AI-ready green data centre development.

PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) has forged a strategic
collaboration with PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk (PGN) through
the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to integrate digital
infrastructure with low-carbon energy supplies. This initiative
represents a tangible effort by both companies to promote the use of
green energy in supporting the operations of sustainable green data
centres.

The signing ceremony took place in Jakarta on Friday (10/4), led by
Telkom’s President Director Dian Siswarini and PGN’s President Director
Arief Kurnia Risdianto. Attendees included Senior Director of Business
Performance and Assets Optimization at Danantara Indonesia, Bhimo
Aryanto; Telkom’s Director of Strategic Portfolio, Seno Soemadji; PGN’s
Finance Director, Catur Dermawan; and PGN’s Director of Strategy and
Business Development, Mirza Mahendra, demonstrating support for
cross-sector synergies to accelerate national digital transformation and
energy transition.

Under this partnership, Telkom will act as the developer of the
digital ecosystem and data centres requiring low-emission energy
supplies, including biomethane, to support TelkomGroup’s data centre
operations. Meanwhile, PGN will provide such energy supplies by
utilising biomethane derived from palm oil waste in Sumatra.

The scope of the collaboration encompasses joint studies up to the
exploration of implementing green energy in TelkomGroup’s data centre
ecosystem, both domestically and internationally. This forms a crucial
foundation to ensure the availability of reliable green energy sources
as a key factor in developing efficient and sustainable next-generation
data centres.

Senior Director of Business Performance and Assets Optimization at
Danantara Indonesia, Bhimo Aryanto, stated that this collaboration is a
strategic step in strengthening synergies among state-owned enterprises
and global partners.

“We view this collaboration as a pivotal moment to reinforce the
integration between the digital and energy sectors. The synergies built
will not only create efficiencies but also open opportunities for
sustainable value creation, while strengthening Indonesia’s position in
the regional digital ecosystem,” Bhimo said in his official remarks,
quoted on Monday (13/4/2026).

Telkom’s President Director, Dian Siswarini, emphasised that this
collaboration is a strategic move to bolster synergies among state-owned
enterprises in supporting the development of reliable and sustainable
national digital infrastructure.

“This collaboration supports the readiness of clean and efficient
energy for sustainable data centre development, while strengthening
Indonesia’s digital sovereignty and promoting Indonesia as a regional
digital hub. This aligns with TelkomGroup’s ambition to become a digital
infrastructure powerhouse in the region,” Dian stated.

In Indonesia, there are five strategic locations for TelkomGroup’s
data centre development that could be supported by PGN’s energy
supplies: Cikarang, Batam, Serpong, Sentul, and Surabaya. These areas
are integrated with PGN’s existing gas pipeline networks, enabling the
optimisation of current infrastructure and opening opportunities for new
network developments.

In response, PGN’s President Director Arief Kurnia Risdianto
highlighted the strategic role of biomethane as a key driver in PGN’s
business transformation towards a low-carbon era.

“PGN has moved beyond being merely a conventional natural gas
provider to becoming a supplier of clean energy that forms the
foundation for future infrastructure. This biomethane initiative for
data centres opens new value-added opportunities while supporting the
national energy transition,” Arief explained.

In line with strengthening domestic collaboration with PGN,
TelkomGroup is also expanding global partnerships in developing the
green digital infrastructure ecosystem, one of which is through a
partnership with Sembcorp Development Ltd. Through TelkomGroup’s data
centre entity, NeutraDC, this collaboration has been in place since 2025
and focuses on exploring the integration of digital infrastructure,
platforms, and sustainable energy services.

Furthermore, this global collaboration includes the development of
integrated low-carbon energy-based solutions to support operations and
enterprise customer needs. Through this approach, all parties aim to
strengthen end-to-end strategies, from green energy availability on the
upstream side (supply), electricity provision, to the development of
integrated solutions on the downstream side (use cases and
commercialisation).

Ultimately, the synergy between domestic and global collaborations is
expected to create a more comprehensive ecosystem to support the
development of AI-ready green data centres, while strengthening
TelkomGroup’s positioning as a key player in the regional digital
ecosystem.

Thus, the signing of this MoU serves as an important milestone for
TelkomGroup in proving its role as an enabler of the national digital
ecosystem with global competitiveness. This includes strengthening PGN’s
position in developing and providing low-carbon energy for future
digital infrastructure.

By integrating digital infrastructure strengths with sustainable
energy, Telkom and PGN are optimistic about delivering innovative,
scalable, world-class solutions that add value for customers and all
stakeholders.
",
