On Aug. 10, 1999, I submitted an application for the
\ninstallation of a new telephone line in my residence in the Tegal
\nAlur Kalideres area to the state-owned company Telkom of Sumur
\nBor chapter, Kalideres, West Jakarta. Unfortunately, I am still
\nwaiting for the telephone line to be connected and have to be
\ncontent keeping my phone number 6069027 and application number
\n1248899. I used to dial number 162 (Telkom's inquiry service) to
\nask about the matter and was invariably told that there was not
\nyet a telephone line network in my area. Now, 162 has been
\nchanged into number 147 but I still get the same reply about my
\napplication.<\/p>\n
To my astonishment, a neighbor of mine got a telephone
\nconnection this year a week after his application had been
\nsubmitted. When my wife complained about our telephone connection
\nto Telkom officers installing my neighbor's telephone connection,
\none of them offered his assistance for a payment of Rp 1.2
\nmillion.<\/p>\n
When will Telkom eradicate the practice of corruption and
\ncollusion? Telkom must take stringent measures against its
\ndelinquent employees.<\/p>\n
Telkom should not advertise about new telephone connections if
\nit lacks telephone networks.<\/p>\n
