Telkom GM urged to resign<\/p>\n
BANDUNG: Angry employees of the West Java branch of state
\ntelecommunications company PT Telkom, have threatened to hold a
\nstrike beginning March 21, if the general manager of Regional
\nDivision III, Michael Lee Towne, is not replaced.<\/p>\n
\"We want the general manager to be replaced by a person who
\ncomes from PT Telkom itself. We are really ashamed of the
\ncomplaints we have received from the general public, who have not
\nreceived good service from PT Telkom, since Towne became general
\nmanager in September last year,\" spokesman for the regional
\ndivision III employees, Sudjana Ruben, told reporters on
\nThursday.<\/p>\n
\"There has been no development in the services of PT Telkom,
\nsince this man became general manager.\"<\/p>\n
Towne, who is actually from PT Ariawest International (AWI) --
\nthe company working in collaboration with the West Java branch of
\nPT Telkom -- was appointed as general manager by the board of
\ndirectors of PT AWI.<\/p>\n
Responding to the employees' demands, Towne said that he was
\nready to resign at any time if that was the wish of AWI, but has
\nalso promised the employees that he will try and develop the
