Telkom deflect charges<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The East Jakarta chapter of the state-owned
\ntelecommunication company, PT Telkom, has denied allegations that
\nthe office sells one telephone line unit to a number of
\ncustomers.<\/p>\n
\"The company gives one line unit only to each customer. It is
\nquite impossible for the company to sell one number to many
\ncustomers,\" I Nyoman Punia, head of the chapter, said over the
\nweekend.<\/p>\n
Punia's remark was made in response to public complaints
\naccusing the company of providing one line unit for many
\ncustomers and of improperly installing connection equipment on
\nsome telephones.<\/p>\n
Punia also gave tips for customers who claim to repeatedly
\nreceive wrong connections. The most important thing to do,
\naccording to him, is to clearly inform the caller they have
\ndialed the wrong number and then ask what number and address they
\nare trying to reach.<\/p>\n
\"If the caller dials again the recipient should inquire how
\nthey obtained that number so as to check whether the caller dials
\nthe right number,\" he said.<\/p>\n
\"You should tell the caller not to make another call unless he
\nor she is sure that the number is the right one,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Punia said that people who repeatedly receive a great number
\nof wrong calls are invited to report it to the nearest
