PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. has announced a transformation\nplan known as \u2018Telkom 30\u2019. This medium-term agenda for the next five\nyears is built upon four key pillars.<\/p>\n
The first pillar is operational excellence, aimed at making the\ncorporation more agile, efficient, and better governed. The second is\nstreamlining, which involves reducing the number of subsidiaries to\nensure a sharper focus on Telkom\u2019s core business operations.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis allows our business focus to be directed towards areas that\ntruly matter to Telkom, specifically our core strengths. Consequently,\nboth capital expenditure (CapEx) and operating expenditure (OpEx) can\nbecome far more effective,\u201d stated the President Director of Telkom\nIndonesia, Dian Siswarini, during an interview with CNBC Indonesia\nTV.<\/p>\n
The third pillar is unlocking value, which aims to maximise the\nutility of existing infrastructure, including towers, fibre optics, and\ndata centres. The final pillar is a shift in modus operandi, where\nTelkom intends to transition from an operational holding company to a\nstrategic holding company. This move is designed to increase efficiency\nand ensure financial reports are more transparent and accessible to\ninvestors.<\/p>\n
Telkom is also prepared to focus heavily on Artificial Intelligence\n(AI) technology, primarily through the development of AI-ready data\ncentres. There is a significant distinction between data centres built a\ndecade ago and those being developed today; modern facilities must\nprioritise not only capacity but also superior connectivity and power\nsupply.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe must ensure our data centres are truly well-connected, featuring\nlow latency and high resilience. Furthermore, the demand for power is\nbecoming extremely high. Therefore, our primary focus is the\nconstruction of data centres that are AI-ready,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n
The next focus area involves fibre optics. The goal is no longer just\nconnecting one point to another, but meeting the specific requirements\nof AI applications that demand low latency and high durability.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the past, connecting one point to another might have only\nrequired a primary link and one backup. Now, we may need four or even\nfive backups for the same link. We must think strategically about how\nfibre optics can support the needs of our data centres,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
Finally, the company is focusing on submarine cables. In an\nincreasingly borderless digital era, Indonesia must remain connected to\nthe rest of the world via undersea cables. Dian explained that Telkom\nalready operates numerous cable segments connecting to all continents,\nfacilitating connectivity between Indonesia and the global market.<\/p>\n
