Tegal demands immigration office<\/p>\n
SEMARANG, Central Java: The provincial justice office here has
\nasked the central government to open an immigration office in
\nTegal mayoralty to improve services to local residents who are
\nplanning to travel overseas.<\/p>\n
The office's information service officer, Wiwik Murniati, told
\nAntara on Wednesday passport applicants in the western part of
\nthe province had complained about the long distance they were
\nforced to travel to reach the nearest immigration office.<\/p>\n
"It takes them up to four hours to reach Semarang, meaning
\nthey waste a great amount of time for unnecessary things.
\nEfficiency is the only reason for our demand for an immigration
\noffice in Tegal," Wiwik said.<\/p>\n
The office has forwarded its request to the Ministry of
\nJustice, but so far has not received a response.<\/p>\n
The ministry recently opened immigration offices in the
\nCentral Java towns of Surakarta and Cilacap. (amd)<\/p>",
