Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya has spoken\nout regarding political analyst Saiful Mujani\u2019s criticism of President\nPrabowo Subianto. Saiful had previously stated that \u201ctoppling\u201d or\nousting President Prabowo is the way to save Indonesia.<\/p>\n
Teddy Indra claimed he was unaware of what Saiful had said. \u201cWow, oh\ndear, I have so much work. I haven\u2019t seen what he said,\u201d Teddy remarked\nat the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, 7 April\n2026.<\/p>\n
Saiful Mujani has not only discussed the impeachment of Prabowo but\nhas also criticised the President\u2019s flagship programmes in the past.<\/p>\n
For Saiful, programmes initiated by Prabowo such as free nutritious\nmeals, village\/sub-district cooperatives, people\u2019s schools, and the\nDanantara Investment Management Agency are part of \u201cpork barrel\npolitics.\u201d Pork barrel politics refers to the practice of allocating\nstate funds to specific programmes in electoral districts to garner\nsympathy and voter support.<\/p>\n
Teddy was also asked about Saiful\u2019s statements regarding these pork\nbarrel programmes. According to Teddy, Prabowo is also likely unaware of\nSaiful\u2019s criticism. \u201cEspecially the President. The President deals with\nmajor issues and is focused on more strategic matters,\u201d Teddy said.<\/p>\n
Saiful Mujani, founder of Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting\n(SMRC), has been in the spotlight recently due to his statements about\nimpeaching President Prabowo.<\/p>\n
As the closing speaker at a halal bihalal forum for analysts titled\n\u201cBefore Analysts Are Silenced,\u201d Saiful described Prabowo as not\npresidential. He assessed that Prabowo does not respond to advice for\nimprovement.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf advising Prabowo doesn\u2019t work either. The only way is to topple\nhim. That\u2019s saving, not saving Prabowo, but saving ourselves and this\nnation,\u201d Saiful said.<\/p>\n
According to Saiful, the way to \u201ctopple\u201d Prabowo cannot be done\nthrough formal procedures such as impeachment via the People\u2019s\nConsultative Assembly on the proposal of the House of Representatives.\nFor him, the only way is for society to consolidate to oust Prabowo. \u201cIn\nmy view, the alternative is not through formal impeachment procedures\nlike that. That won\u2019t work,\u201d Saiful said.<\/p>\n
Saiful\u2019s statement then went viral on social media after Senior\nExpert Staff at the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), Ulta Levenia,\nreposted a video clip of it. Via her Instagram account @leveenia<\/span>, Ulta called\nSaiful a \u201cprovocateur in academic clothing.\u201d<\/p>\n She also called on the public to protect Indonesia from what she\ndescribed as structured treason. \u201cThis is so scary, the provocation is\nextraordinary, this can be called treason,\u201d Ulta wrote.<\/p>",
