        "content": "<p>Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya received Labour Minister\nYassierli at the Cabinet Secretariat Office in Jakarta. The two\ndiscussed the national internship programme that the government will\nimplement again.<\/p>\n<p>Teddy stated that together with Yassierli, they discussed the\nprogress and strategic plans in the labour sector. \u201cIncluding the\n2025-2026 National Internship Programme which is currently followed by\n100,000 internship participants, with the initial number of registrants\nreaching around 400,000 people,\u201d said Teddy in his statement, quoted on\nSunday, 26 April 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Teddy said the government plans to increase the national internship\nquota for the 2026-2027 period. He believes this programme can improve\nthe quality and expertise of the internship participants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe opportunity for work experience, gaining knowledge from mentors,\nand receiving monthly wages in accordance with the provincial minimum\nwage from the central government provides greater encouragement for\nuniversity graduates to register,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, in the meeting, Teddy and Yassierli also discussed\nplanning for vocational training programmes for vocational school\ngraduates. \u201cThe Ministry of Manpower is also continuing to implement\nvarious programmes to improve the skills and welfare of workers,\nespecially for labourers, outsourcing workers, and domestic workers,\u201d\nsaid Teddy.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Manpower previously submitted a proposal to increase\nthe number of national internship participants for the 2026 period to\n150,000 people. \u201cThis is just a proposal, we have already submitted the\nletter to the President,\u201d said Yassierli in a working meeting with\nCommission IX of the DPR broadcast live on YouTube, on Thursday, 9 April\n2026.<\/p>\n<p>Yassierli said the Ministry of Manpower is still awaiting budget\navailability. He hopes the Ministry of Finance will provide support so\nthat the implementation of the national internship programme can\ncontinue this year. The proposed number of participants submitted by\nYassierli is higher than the initial plan of 100,000.<\/p>\n<p>On the same occasion, Yassierli recounted findings from the Ministry\nof Manpower during a review of the national internship programme. He\nsaid there were disabled participants from the regions who had the\nopportunity to intern in Jakarta, as well as participants who used their\nwages to help their parents.<\/p>",
