        "content": "<p>Led by Tebo Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Triyanto, a\njoint task force for the control of illegal gold mining (PETI) destroyed\nseven pontoon rafts equipped with suction engines during a patrol on\nTuesday afternoon (21\/7). The rafts were found moored on the banks of\nthe Batanghari River within the Sumay District, Tebo Regency, Jambi\nProvince.<\/p>\n<p>Tebo Police Chief Triyanto confirmed the action to Media Indonesia on\nTuesday evening. He stated that the firm measures taken by the Tebo\nPolice together with the integrated team represent a shared commitment\nto eradicating illegal gold mining activities in Tebo Regency, including\nin the Batanghari river basin.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that Tuesday\u2019s patrol and enforcement operation targeted\nthe river flow around Teluk Langkap Village and Punti Kalo Village in\nthe Sumay District. The joint team was divided into two groups to\nmonitor illegal mining activities via land routes and along the river\nusing rubber boats and wooden canoes.<\/p>\n<p>The operation, spearheaded by the Tebo Police, involved elements of\nthe Indonesian Armed Forces from the Central Tebo Military District\nCommand, the Assistant II of the Tebo Regency Government, along with\nseveral civil service police unit personnel.<\/p>\n<p>During the river patrol, the joint team did not find any active\nsuction-pontoon rafts. The Batanghari River route near the border of\nTeluk Langkap Village and Punti Kalo Village was also clear of any such\nrafts. The team only found seven suction-pontoon rafts moored without\nactivity along the riverbanks. As a mitigation measure, the seven parked\nrafts were destroyed by the team by burning them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was some resistance from several residents, but through a\npersuasive and humane approach, we were able to defuse the opposition.\nOverall, today\u2019s operation proceeded safely and conducively,\u201d added Tebo\nPolice Criminal Investigation Unit Head Inspector Rimhot Nainggolan.<\/p>",
