        "content": "<p>Teamwork vital to prevent fires<\/p>\n<p>SINGAPORE (DPA): Southeast Asian non-governmental<br>\norganizations (NGOs) are set to gather in Singapore next month to<br>\ndiscuss battling the region's forest fires and the resulting haze<br>\nthat periodically blankets the region, a news report said<br>\nyesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The Singapore Environment Council is hosting the closed-door<br>\nconference in a bid to unite industry groups and NGOs, and<br>\nstimulate them to take coordinated action to prevent the fires.<\/p>\n<p>The fires, which are raging out of control in parts of<br>\nIndonesia and Malaysia, have covered large areas in Southeast<br>\nAsia with thick, foul-smelling smoke haze.<\/p>\n<p>Delegates from NGOs, international aid agencies and think<br>\ntanks are scheduled to attend the Singapore meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\"There are a lot of individual efforts now.
