Team set up to probe officials' wealth<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The Attorney General's Office has formed a team,
\nheaded by Deputy Attorney General for Civil and State
\nAdministrative Courts Soehanjono, to investigate the wealth of
\ncurrent and past government officials.<\/p>\n
"The results (of the investigation) of officials from both the
\ncentral and provincial governments will be announced to the
\npublic," the office's spokesman, Barman Zahir, said yesterday.<\/p>\n
He did not elaborate on when the investigation results would
\nbe announced.<\/p>\n
The offices of the attorney general, the chief public
\nprosecutor and public prosecutors have already asked the public
\nto provide information on the wealth of officials through P.O.
\nBox 777 to help the team in its investigation.<\/p>\n
"P.O. Box 777 has been opened and placed at the offices of the
\nattorney general, the chief public prosecutor and all public
\nprosecutors in the country," Zahir said as quoted by Antara.<\/p>\n
This is expected to make it easier for the public to present
\ninformation or preliminary evidence on the wealth of serving and
\nformer officials.<\/p>\n
Deputy Attorney General Ismudjoko SH had previously asked all
\npublic prosecutor offices throughout the country to open the post
\noffice box address. The public should use this to provide any
\ninformation on the wealth of officials, Zahir said. (mds)<\/p>",
