The development of the case continues to draw scrutiny due to the\nsheer value of the evidence. The public is hoping that the Attorney\nGeneral\u2019s Office\u2019s \u2018Team 9\u2019, which is handling the case, can fully\nuncover the origin of the assets and identify the responsible\nparties.<\/p>\n
Anti-corruption activist Iqbal Hutapea stated that public questions\nabout the ownership of the money and gold are entirely reasonable. He\nnoted that the enormous value of the seized assets has led the public to\ndemand legal certainty and transparency from law enforcement\nofficials.<\/p>\n
\u2018It is natural for such questions to arise because this is a major\ncase. It is major because of the figures involved,\u2019 Hutapea told\nreporters on Monday, 3 August 2026.<\/p>\n
Hutapea added that the scale of the evidence and the profile of the\nindividuals implicated have made the case a focus of public attention.\nHe stressed that the handling process must be carried out\nprofessionally, transparently, and accountably.<\/p>\n
He expressed hope that the Attorney General\u2019s Office\u2019s Team 9 would\nthoroughly investigate the origin of the assets, including tracing the\nparty that owned or controlled the hundreds of billions of rupiah and\ndozens of kilograms of gold. \u2018Let us think positively and give the\ninvestigation team the opportunity to work,\u2019 he concluded.<\/p>\n
Previously, the Attorney General\u2019s Office named former Junior\nAttorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, as a suspect in\na money laundering case related to the discovery of 74 kilograms of gold\nand hundreds of billions of rupiah at his residence in Sentul. The\nAttorney General\u2019s Office also named a private sector individual, Nurman\nHerin, as a suspect for his alleged involvement in the money laundering\nscheme alongside Febrie.<\/p>\n
Chair of Team 9 and Junior Attorney General for Supervision, Rudi\nMargono, stated that the alleged money laundering was carried out by\nFebrie during his tenure as a prosecutor or structural official at the\nAttorney General\u2019s Office. In addition to this case, Febrie is\nimplicated in three other cases at the Attorney General\u2019s Office.
