Anti-corruption activist Iqbal Hutapea has called on the Attorney General's Office's 'Team 9' to clarify the ownership of Rp 476 billion in cash and 74 kilograms of gold bars seized from the home of former junior attorney general for special crimes, Febrie Adriansyah. The public is demanding transparency regarding the massive asset discovery, which has led to Febrie being named a suspect in a money laundering case. The investigation is also linked to other corruption cases involving the former official, including alleged graft at PT Krakatau Steel and a coal procurement scandal at PLN.

The public is still awaiting clarity on the ownership of Rp 476
billion in cash and 74 kilograms of gold bars seized during a search of
the residence of former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes
(Jampidsus), Febrie Adriansyah. To date, there has been no official
explanation regarding the owner of the assets or the origin of the
funds.

The development of the case continues to draw scrutiny due to the
sheer value of the evidence. The public is hoping that the Attorney
General’s Office’s ‘Team 9’, which is handling the case, can fully
uncover the origin of the assets and identify the responsible
parties.

Anti-corruption activist Iqbal Hutapea stated that public questions
about the ownership of the money and gold are entirely reasonable. He
noted that the enormous value of the seized assets has led the public to
demand legal certainty and transparency from law enforcement
officials.

‘It is natural for such questions to arise because this is a major
case. It is major because of the figures involved,’ Hutapea told
reporters on Monday, 3 August 2026.

Hutapea added that the scale of the evidence and the profile of the
individuals implicated have made the case a focus of public attention.
He stressed that the handling process must be carried out
professionally, transparently, and accountably.

He expressed hope that the Attorney General’s Office’s Team 9 would
thoroughly investigate the origin of the assets, including tracing the
party that owned or controlled the hundreds of billions of rupiah and
dozens of kilograms of gold. ‘Let us think positively and give the
investigation team the opportunity to work,’ he concluded.

Previously, the Attorney General’s Office named former Junior
Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, as a suspect in
a money laundering case related to the discovery of 74 kilograms of gold
and hundreds of billions of rupiah at his residence in Sentul. The
Attorney General’s Office also named a private sector individual, Nurman
Herin, as a suspect for his alleged involvement in the money laundering
scheme alongside Febrie.

Chair of Team 9 and Junior Attorney General for Supervision, Rudi
Margono, stated that the alleged money laundering was carried out by
Febrie during his tenure as a prosecutor or structural official at the
Attorney General’s Office. In addition to this case, Febrie is
implicated in three other cases at the Attorney General’s Office. The
first relates to alleged corruption at PT Krakatau Steel, and the second
involves alleged corruption in the procurement of coal for PLN’s steam
power plants, which resulted in a blackout.
",
