As a teacher, I would like<br>\nto propose the following for the improvement of teachers'<br>\nwelfare.<\/p>\n<p>With their very small pay, teachers often resort to borrowing<br>\nmoney from banks. What if the government extends bank loans at<br>\nlow interest rates to teachers? By that system, teachers can<br>\nincrease their purchasing power. Experience has shown that every<br>\ntime there is a salary increase, prices of commodities and<br>\nservices also go up.<\/p>\n<p>A fifty percent reduction in school fees should be given to<br>\nteachers' first two children, from junior high school to<br>\nuniversity.<\/p>\n<p>The two above-mentioned facilities will greatly enhance the<br>\nteaching profession and will draw many gifted persons to become<br>\nteachers.<\/p>\n<p>MULYONO<\/p>\n<p>Brebes, Central Java<\/p>",
