        "content": "<p>Teachers moonlight for a living<\/p>\n<p>BANDAR LAMPUNG, Lampung: Teachers posted on Pasaran Island<br>\nhave to spend whatever spare time they have doing extra work to<br>\nsupplement their income and pay for sea transportation.<\/p>\n<p>Antara reported on Saturday that a number of teachers have had<br>\nto open food stalls, sell petrol by the roadside, fish, or even<br>\nbecome construction workers.<\/p>\n<p>\"We wouldn't be able to sustain our family by relying on our<br>\nsalary alone...Most of it is spent on sea transportation (to<br>\nreach the school on the island),\" said Bahrun Bahtiar, principal<br>\nof an elementary school.<\/p>\n<p>Two other teachers, Mauludi and Yusuf, concurred with Bahrun.<br>\n\"It's something we have to accept as part and parcel of being<br>\nteachers,\" Mauludi said. \"Our moonlighting jobs help us<br>\nfinancially,\" he added.
