        "content": "<p>Teacher on trial for killing student<\/p>\n<p>MEDAN, North Sumatra: The district court here began trying a<br>\nlecturer of a prestigious private university yesterday on charges<br>\nof raping and killing a student.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutor T. Hutauruk said that the accused, who was<br>\nidentified only as MDP, 29, raped and then stabbed to death the<br>\nstudent, in  November last year.<\/p>\n<p>The courtroom was crammed with about 1,000 people who wanted<br>\nto see the accused, whose case has received wide coverage in the<br>\nlocal mass media.<\/p>\n<p>Hutauruk charged that the accused assaulted and raped the<br>\nstudent along with his fellow teachers, MH, BHN and HNS. The<br>\nprosecutor also said he took the victim to a place in Percut<br>\nSungai Tuan where he promised her money for her tuition fee.<\/p>\n<p>According to the prosecutor, the accused then decided to kill<br>\nthe young woman because she threatened to reveal that he had<br>\nsexual relations with her, after he broke his promise to help her<br>\nwith her dissertation, Antara reported.
