        "content": "<p>TB prevalent in Maluku<\/p>\n<p>AMBON, Maluku: Twenty-four out of every 1,000 people in Maluku<br>\nsuffer from tuberculosis.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. H.I. Umarella, head of the Maluku health office, told<br>\nAntara that the unhealthy living pattern of the people, who<br>\nlacked nutrition, makes them prone to tuberculosis.<\/p>\n<p>Smoking, a habit which around 50 percent high school students<br>\nhave picked up, makes them even more vulnerable to the disease.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Health campaigns at schools need to be improved to prevent<br>\nmore students from smoking inside or outside the school,&quot; he<br>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Tuberculosis patients could be cured within six months if they<br>\nregularly sought medical treatment, which is available at most<br>\ncommunity health centers, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Maluku is now targeting cutting the number of TB sufferers to<br>\n10 for every 1,000 people in the next five years.
