Taufik Kiemas goes back home<\/p>\n

President Megawati Soekarnoputri's husband, Taufik Kiemas, and
\nhis entourage arrived here on Tuesday to visit the victims of
\nflooding in Pagaralam, his hometown, some 350 kilometers
\nsoutheast of the provincial capital of Palembang.<\/p>\n
The are was hit by floods on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Also present in Taufik's entourage were Minister of Research
\nand Technology Hatta Radjasa, Minister of Resettlement and
\nRegional Infrastructure Soenarno, Minister of Cooperatives and
\nSmall and Medium Enterprises Alimarwan Hanan, Minister of
\nForestry Mohamad Prakosa and Minister of Trade and Industry Rini
\nSoewandi and several legislators of the Indonesian Democratic
\nParty of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan).<\/p>\n
Besides pledging a personal donation, Taufik raised Rp 1.16
\nbillion during a lunch with local officials and businessmen at
\nSouth Sumatra Governor Rosihan Arsyad's official residence in the
\ncity prior to their departure to Pagaralam on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
\"The funds will be handed over in full to the Pagaralam
\nadministration to be distributed to the flood victims,\" he said.<\/p>\n
He declined to reveal the amount he would donate to the flood
\nvictims.<\/p>\n
The governor has donated Rp 20 million.<\/p>\n
The death toll has reached 22 in Kerinjing and several other
\nvillages in Pagaralam. Hundreds of locals whose houses were
\nflooded are still taking refuge in nearby villages.<\/p>\n
Sources at the local administration said Taufik would visit
\nhis home village of Tanjung Raman, which was also flooded, and
\nvisit his ancestors' graves there.<\/p>\n
Separately, Lahat Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Budi Setyadi
\nsaid on Tuesday that humanitarian assistance for flood victims
\nwas being flown in from numerous parties inside and outside the
\nprovince.<\/p>",
