PT TASPEN (Persero) is urging all participants and the public to
increase their vigilance against various modes of fraud carried out in
the company’s name. These schemes continue to evolve, ranging from the
use of fake social media accounts, messages via WhatsApp, the spread of
phishing links, forgery of official documents, to the exploitation of
artificial intelligence (AI) technology. One recently discovered modus
operandi involves the offer of a fund distribution programme for
pensioners through unofficial communication channels, which has the
potential to mislead the public. Data from the Ministry
of Communication and Digital shows that the national digital literacy
index stands at 3.54 on a scale of 5. Although this figure continues to
show improvement, the digital security aspect still needs strengthening
amid the evolving modes of cybercrime. Furthermore, data from the
Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and several studies indicate that the
elderly demographic still faces challenges in understanding digital
security and verifying received information. This condition is a
particular concern given that the majority of TASPEN participants are
pensioners, making improved digital literacy a crucial step to protect
them from technology and digital media-based fraud. As a protective
measure for participants, TASPEN urges the public to apply the ‘Hold,
Verify, Report’ principle when responding to any information received.
The public is expected to refrain from immediately believing circulating
information, verify its truth through official TASPEN channels, and
report any accounts or parties suspected of committing fraud. TASPEN
firmly states that the company never asks participants to pay any
administrative fees, send OTP codes, PINs, passwords, or other
confidential data to obtain services or programme benefits. TASPEN also
invites the public to obtain information exclusively through official
channels, including the TASPEN website, official social media accounts,
the Andal by Taspen application, TASPEN branch offices, and the TASPEN
Call Centre at 1500 919.
