Task force on illegal immigrants<\/p>\n
DENPASAR: The government will set up a task force to handle
\nthe flow of illegal immigrants to Indonesia, Coordinating
\nMinister for Political, Social and Security Affairs Susilo
\nBambang Yudhoyono said here Monday.<\/p>\n
\"Indonesia which is located between Asia and Australia has
\nbecome a stepping stone and destination country for illegal
\nimmigrants, especially those from South Asia and Middle Eastern
\ncountries,\" Yudhoyono said in a coordinative meeting with
\nofficials of Bali's provincial administration.<\/p>\n
The government needed to make integrated efforts, through
\ndomestic as well as international cooperation, to stem the flow
\nof illegal immigrants to Indonesia, he said.<\/p>\n
The establishment of a task force and bilateral cooperation
\nwould be needed to handle the problem, the minister said, adding
\nthat the country was already beginning to cooperate with
\nAustralia.<\/p>\n
\"The government is also cooperating with Malaysia and
\nSingapore and some international agencies such as the
\nInternational Organization of Migration (IOM) and the UN High
