The Chairperson of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Task Force for\nKudus Regency, Bellinda Putri Sabrina Birton, has urged schools and\nbeneficiaries to return MBG menus deemed unfit for consumption. Schools\nhave the right to do so as part of an evaluation process for the\nNutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) kitchens.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe return of such meals aims to ensure that unsuitable menus are\ninspected and serve as evaluation material for the MBG kitchen\nmanagers,\u201d said Bellinda Putri, who also serves as the Vice Regent of\nKudus, while leading a dialogue on the MBG programme at the Kudus\nRegency Pendopo on Wednesday (2\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n
She also requested that inspections should not be conducted merely\nthrough sampling; instead, teachers in each classroom should inspect the\nmeals alongside students to ensure the received MBG menus are fit for\nconsumption. \u201cIf they are indeed unfit or unappealing, they should be\nreturned to the kitchen,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n
Bellinda noted that the return of meals is not intended to blame the\nSPPG kitchen staff, but rather to serve as a learning opportunity for\neach kitchen unit.<\/p>\n
She also expressed appreciation for the National Nutrition Agency\n(BGN) for engaging the Indonesian Chefs Association to drive capacity\nbuilding for kitchen managers, including education and training for\ncooking staff.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want the menu to be edible and the presentation to be visually\nappealing. If there is a menu that is not yet up to standard, we will\nre-examine and check it together. The goal is the same: to ensure that\nthe free nutritious meals consumed by the public are truly high\nquality,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
She hopes for the implementation of menu standardisation to prevent\ndisparities in quality. This follows reports of beneficiaries comparing\nmenus from initial kitchens with newer ones, following changes in the\nSPPGs responsible for supply as the number of beneficiaries is\nredistributed across kitchens.<\/p>\n
She admitted to repeatedly proposing the standardisation of MBG\nmenus, though approval from the BGN is still pending.
